About This Test

The HAINS NTM-DR test detects nontuberculous mycobacterial species and identifies their drug resistance patterns. NTM are mycobacteria other than Mycobacterium tuberculosis that can cause lung, skin, and systemic infections, particularly in immunocompromised individuals. This test is critical for accurate diagnosis, treatment selection, and preventing ineffective therapy.
