As human growth hormone (hGH) levels in normal & diseased populations overlap, hGH stimulation test is needed to evaluate hGH deficiency in cases of growth retardation, short stature and dwarfism. To diagnose hGH deficiency as a cause of retardation, at least two different stimulants should be used on different days for confirmation.
