About This Test
Platelet derived growth factor receptor alpha (PDGFRA) is a part of a family of proteins called receptor tyrosine kinases. FIP1L1-PDGFRA is a novel oncogenic mutation which is associated with a primary eosinophilic disorder. It is seen in Chronic eosinophilic leukemia and Systemic mast cell disease associated with eosinophilia. Patients with this mutation respond well to Imatinib therapy. Activating mutations in PDGFRA are also involved in 2-15% cases of Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST).

No special preparation required.
The FISH PDGFRα (4q12) gene rearrangement test detects chromosomal rearrangements involving the PDGFRα gene. These rearrangements are associated with myeloid/lymphoid neoplasms with eosinophilia and certain solid tumors, and are critical for diagnosis, prognosis, and targeted therapy.
TAT Policy
The Turnaround Time (TAT) depends on the following factors:
- Registration date and time
- Type of scan or test
- Scan time or sample collection time
In uncommon circumstances, TAT may be delayed due to test complexity or reasons beyond our control. You will be informed of the estimated TAT at the time of registration.
