About This Test
Deficiency of Factor IX causes prolongation of APTT that corrects completely on mixing. Congenital Factor IX deficiency is called Hemophilia B / Christmas disease which is inherited in X-linked recessive manner. It affects 1 per 25000 to 30000 live male births.

Overnight fasting is preferred. It is recommended that patient discontinues Heparin for 1 day and Oral Anticoagulants for 7 days prior to sampling as these drugs may affect test results. Discontinuation should be with prior consent from the treating Physician.
