About This Test
MRI of the pelvis is a type of scan that uses strong magnets and radio waves to create clear pictures of the inside of your body, specifically the pelvic area. This includes organs like the bladder, uterus, ovaries, prostate, and surrounding muscles and bones. Doctors use this scan to help diagnose issues like pelvic pain, tumors, cysts, infections, or other problems with soft tissues. It’s especially helpful for checking problems with the reproductive organs, such as fibroids or endometriosis. The exam usually takes about 30 to 40 minutes.
