MRI oral cavity with contrast is a scan that takes detailed pictures of your mouth, including the tongue, gums, jaw, cheeks, and the floor of the mouth. The “contrast” is a special dye given through a vein that makes certain tissues and blood vessels show up more clearly on the images.During this step, a small amount of contrast dye is usually given through an IV for more clear information. scan helps doctors detect problems such as infections, tumors, cysts, or abnormal growths in the mouth. It can also show if a tumor has spread to nearby muscles, bones, or lymph nodes.
