MRI Mandible is a safe scan that gives clear pictures of the lower jaw and surrounding tissues to help doctors find the cause of jaw pain, swelling, or movement problems — without using radiation. it shows jawbone, temporomandibular joint (TMJ), Muscles used for chewing, Nerves, Glands (like the salivary glands), Soft tissues around the jaw
Why it’s done -Doctors may order this scan if someone has:
Jaw pain, TMJ disorders, , Difficulty opening or closing the mouth, locking jaw, Jaw swelling, Infection or abscess, Suspected tumors or cysts, Injury or fractures.
The scan usually takes 20–40 minutes.

Preparation / Prerequisite
Fasting is not mandatory except for un-coperative patients where sedation may be needed ( 4-6 hours fasting) Prior appointment desirable. Non MR compatible Pacemaker .For contrast administration (CEMR) renal status to be assesed. Please bring latest reports of blood urea and creatinine (if available). Please bring along the prescription , all previous records & investigation reports (including images & soft copies, if any
