About This Test
A stroke happens when blood flow to part of the brain is blocked or when a blood vessel bursts, causing damage. Contrast dye is sometimes injected into a vein to make blood vessels and damaged areas show up more clearly. This helps doctors see the size, location, and type of stroke.
