About This Test
The HIV-1 RNA Quantitative test measures the amount of HIV-1 virus present in the blood. It uses Real-Time PCR (RT-PCR) to detect and count HIV-1 RNA copies. This is the most important test for monitoring HIV infection, assessing treatment effectiveness, predicting disease progression.
