Hepatitis C Viral RNA (HCV RNA) Quantitative
Also Known As:
Hepatitis C Virus PCR
HCV RNA Quantitative
About This Test
The HCV RNA Quantitative test (also called HCV viral load test) measures the amount of Hepatitis C virus (HCV) RNA present in the blood. It uses Real-Time PCR technology to detect and quantify the virus. This test helps determine presence of active HCV infection, severity of infection, response to treatment. Hepatitis C virus (HCV) causes a severe form of hepatitis that targets the liver cells leading to inflammation, scarring, liver damage, cirrhosis & liver cancer if not treated. HCV spreads through contaminated blood during blood transfusion, needle stick injuries, sharing of needles by drug users, dirty needles used for tattoos & through semen. Symptoms include bruising easily, itchy skin, fluid in abdomen, weight loss, swelling in the legs & confusion. This test gives the quantity of the virus in your body.

Frequently Asked Questions
Molecular testing is a type of laboratory test that analyzes molecules in the body—usually DNA, RNA, or proteins—to detect diseases, infections, genetic conditions, or other biological changes using advanced technique like PCR.
No special preparation.
Mon-Sat Sample before 11am, report same day. After 11 am or sunday, report nex day.
Hepatitis C Viral RNA (HCV RNA) Quantitative test is important because it measures the amount of hepatitis C virus in the blood, which is critical for diagnosis, treatment planning, and monitoring therapy response.
TAT Policy
The Turnaround Time (TAT) depends on the following factors:
- Registration date and time
- Type of scan or test
- Scan time or sample collection time
In uncommon circumstances, TAT may be delayed due to test complexity or reasons beyond our control. You will be informed of the estimated TAT at the time of registration.
