The Stool for Cryptosporidium test detects Cryptosporidium, a protozoan parasite that causes cryptosporidiosis—a diarrheal illness. The organism Cryptosporidium, a parasite can be found in contaminated water, soil, food & surfaces. We usually get infected through water in swimming pools, hot tubs & drinking water and it is a major cause of acute and chronic diarrhea, especially in children and immunocompromised individuals. The major symptom is Persistent watery diarrhea, Abdominal cramps,Nausea/vomiting etc. A positive result indicates active parasitic infection.
