The Smear for Nocardia test is a microscopic examination of a clinical sample to detect Nocardia, a group of aerobic, filamentous, weakly acid-fast bacteria that cause nocardiosis.This infection commonly affects the lungs, brain & skin causing Nocardiosis. The test sample includes Sputum / BAL, Pus from abscesses, Skin lesion discharge, Tissue biopsy etc.
