The Smear for Gonococci test is a microscopic examination used to detect Neisseria gonorrhoeae, the bacteria that cause gonorrhea, a sexually transmitted infection (STI). This test is usually performed on Urethral discharge (male), Cervical/vaginal discharge (female),Rectal swab, Throat swab. Symptoms of the test incluldes Painful urination, pus like discharge from vagina, penis or rectum. This is a rapid diagnosis of Gonococcus bacteria on a smear.
