Also Known As:

Albert Stain for C.diphtheriae

The Albert stain is a special differential stain used for the microscopic identification of Corynebacterium diphtheriae, the bacteria that causes diphtheria. This stain helps detect metachromatic (volutin) granules, also known as Babès–Ernst granules, which are the characteristic feature of C. diphtheriae. The test is done for rapid diagnosis of diphtheria, it helps differentiate toxigenic C. diphtheriae,

  • Description

Microbiology is the study of all living organisms that are too small to be visible with the naked eye. This includes bacteria, archaea, viruses, fungi, prions, protozoa and algae, collectively known as 'microbes'. These microbes play key roles in nutrient cycling, biodegradation/biodeterioration, climate change, food spoilage, the cause and control of disease, and biotechnology. Thanks to their versatility, microbes can be put to work in many ways: making life-saving drugs, the manufacture of biofuels, cleaning up pollution, and producing/processing food and drink.

Our Microbiology Laboratory provides complete clinical services for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of infectious diseases. Several like microscopy, and staining are employed to identify the presence of potentially pathogenic microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, viruses and parasites. Quality control and quality assurance are held in highest regard in the lab.

Automated techniques are used for identification of bacteria and sensitivity to drugs is also being done automatically. Cultures are being put in special BOD incubators.

Quality control procedures and processing of samples is being done as per NABL 112.

TAT Policy

The Turnaround Time (TAT) for a test depends on the following factors:

  • Registration date and time
  • Type of scan or test
  • Scan time or sample collection time

Please note that in uncommon circumstances, TAT may be delayed due to the complexity of the test or reasons beyond our control. You will be informed about the estimated TAT at the time of registration or after completion of the test.
