About This Test
Packed Cell Volume (PCV)—also called Hematocrit (Hct)—measures the percentage of red blood cells (RBCs) in the blood. It indicates the proportion of blood occupied by RBCs. Low PCV indicates nutritional anemia (iron, B12, folate deficiency), Chronic diseases while High PCV indicates Polycythemia vera,Chronic hypoxia.
