About This Test
G6PD is an enzyme inside red blood cells (RBCs) that protects them from damage caused by oxidative stress.
If the enzyme level is low → RBCs get destroyed easily → leading to hemolytic anemia.
Women who carry a defective gene can pass this deficiency to their children. They do not suffer but act as carriers. Men with defective gene always suffer from hemolytic anemia. This test identifies the deficiency in newborns. This test gives a quantitative value.

Frequently Asked Questions
Hematology tests are blood tests that study blood cells and related parameters to assess overall health and detect blood-related disorders.
This Test does not require fasting.
Mon-Sat, sample before 4pm, reports same day and Sunday reports next day.
The G6PD (Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase) test is important because it detects a genetic enzyme deficiency that affects red blood cells and can lead to hemolytic anemia under certain triggers.
Yes, fully automated analysers are used.
TAT Policy
The Turnaround Time (TAT) depends on the following factors:
- Registration date and time
- Type of scan or test
- Scan time or sample collection time
In uncommon circumstances, TAT may be delayed due to test complexity or reasons beyond our control. You will be informed of the estimated TAT at the time of registration.
