EMG ALL FOUR LIMBS -Delhi

EPS

EMG ALL FOUR LIMBS

Also Known As: Electromyography

About This Test

EMG of all four limbs is a detailed evaluation of muscle activity throughout the body. A fine needle electrode is inserted into selected muscles of both arms and legs to record electrical signals during rest and movement. This test is especially valuable for diagnosing generalized neuromuscular disorders such as peripheral neuropathy, motor neuron diseases (MND), myopathies, metabolic muscle diseases, and systemic nerve damage caused by conditions like diabetes or autoimmune disorders. By testing all limbs, doctors can detect patterns that may not be visible when only one region is assessed. EMG helps differentiate between nerve-originated and muscle-originated weakness, ensuring accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. It also assists in evaluating the severity of nerve damage and monitoring the progression or improvement of neuromuscular conditions. The test is essential for patients with widespread symptoms such as diffuse weakness, numbness, or muscle wasting.
