A Digital OPG (Orthopantomogram) is a panoramic dental X-ray that provides a broad two-dimensional view of the entire mouth, including all teeth, both jaws, temporomandibular joints, and supporting bone structures. It is commonly used for routine dental evaluations, orthodontic assessments, wisdom tooth examination, planning extractions, and detecting cysts, infections, or jaw abnormalities. Digital OPG imaging uses low radiation and produces high-quality images within seconds. The procedure is simple: the patient stands still while the machine rotates around the head to capture a wide panoramic image. While it does not provide the 3D detail of CBCT, it offers an excellent overview of dental and jaw health, helping dentists identify issues such as tooth alignment problems, bone loss, impacted teeth, or sinus involvement. Because of its speed, safety, and comprehensive coverage, OPG is a standard diagnostic tool in almost every dental clinic for initial evaluation and treatment planning.
