Also Known As:

Cell Block

A Cell Block Examination is a histopathological technique where cells from body fluids or fine-needle aspiration (FNA) are processed into a paraffin-embedded block, just like a biopsy specimen. This allows the pathologist to study the sample with higher accuracy and perform additional tests like Immunohistochemistry (IHC). It is a crucial test for diagnosing cancers, infections, and inflammatory conditions from fluid or cytology samples.
