⚠ Preparation / Prerequisite:

General instructions For  All CT

  •      Bring old records- text reports, films, CD.
  •      Please rule out pregnency as it is a contraindication.
  •      Appointment is desirable.
  •      Pl remove jewellery at home for safety purpose. 
  •      For plain CT : No fasting and no creatinine / eGFR blood test required. 
  •      For Contrast CT : Need 4hrs fasting and eGFR blood test report (done within 30 days).
  •      Thyroid scan ( Of NM deptt) to be done before contrast CT 
  •      For Pregnant patient - Risk-benefit assessment. Look for any alternative test with no radiation. 
         Bring Photocopy of doctor precription & photo ID proof (Aadhar card, Voter id & driving licence) for PNDT requirements.  
  •      Appointment desirable.

Ans CECT Whole Abdomen is the contrast-enhanced computed tomography of the abdominal region to create a detailed image of the internal structure, bones, soft tissue etc. of the abdomen. CT uses X-rays for the detection of abnormalities in the abdominal hernia.

The procedure of CECT whole abdomen needs 4-6 hours of fasting. Patients may be given an oral contrast before the scan. After oral contrast is given patient needs to wait for 60-90 minutes and then the patient needs to lie supine on a table and arm is placed on the sides and contrast is injected into the arm through an IV line then the scan is performed.
