About This Test
The Submandibular Area (Scan Charges Only) study is a non-contrast imaging procedure focused on examining the structures beneath the lower jaw, including the submandibular glands, lymph nodes, ducts, soft tissues, and adjacent muscles. Without contrast administration, the scan primarily highlights structural abnormalities such as gland enlargement, salivary stones, infections, cysts, masses, or inflammatory conditions. It is commonly recommended for patients experiencing swelling under the jaw, difficulty swallowing, pain during eating, recurrent salivary gland infections, or palpable lumps. The study helps assess ductal obstruction, sialadenitis, and other abnormalities affecting the submandibular region. High-resolution images provide detailed visualization, allowing clinicians to determine the nature and extent of the problem and decide whether further contrast-enhanced imaging or additional testing is required. This safe, quick, and non-invasive procedure is ideal for initial evaluation and diagnostic screening of submandibular gland and neck-related complaints.

Ans- Most scans take 5–10 minutes.
Ans-Yes. CT scan is a safe imaging test. However, it exposes you to a small dose of radiation. For most people, such a small potential risk far outweighs the benefits, in terms of saving your life. The radiation dose is controlled and kept within safe limits.
