About This Test
Spleenoportography is a specialized imaging study used to evaluate the portal venous system by visualizing blood flow from the spleen to the liver. This procedure is particularly helpful in assessing portal vein patency, portal hypertension, splenic vein abnormalities, thrombosis, or vascular malformations. During the study, a contrast medium is injected into the splenic circulation, allowing detailed imaging of the splenic vein, portal vein, and their branches using high-resolution CT or fluoroscopic techniques. “Scan Charges Only” indicates that the cost applies exclusively to the scanning procedure and does not include contrast material or other consumables. Spleenoportography provides critical information for patients with liver disease, cirrhosis, gastrointestinal bleeding, or suspected portal vein blockages. By accurately mapping the portal venous anatomy, this study assists clinicians in diagnosis, preoperative planning, interventional procedures, and monitoring treatment outcomes, making it a valuable tool in the management of portal venous and splenic disorders.

condition.
Ans- Most scans take 5–10 minutes.
Ans-Yes. CT scan is a safe imaging test. However, it exposes you to a small dose of radiation. For most people, such a small potential risk far outweighs the benefits, in terms of saving your life. The radiation dose is controlled and kept within safe limits.
