About This Test
A Paranasal Sinuses (PNS) scan with contrast is performed to provide enhanced visualization of the sinus cavities and surrounding structures. The contrast agent helps highlight blood vessels, soft tissues, and pathological changes more clearly, making it useful in detecting tumors, complicated sinus infections, vascular abnormalities, or post-surgical changes. ENT and neurology specialists often recommend this contrast-enhanced study when detailed evaluation beyond routine sinus imaging is required. It helps differentiate between benign and malignant lesions, assess the extent of invasive fungal infections, and identify abscess formations. The contrast material is administered intravenously, allowing radiologists to observe enhancement patterns crucial for accurate diagnosis. High-resolution images obtained during the scan offer superior clarity, especially in complex or atypical cases. This test provides a comprehensive assessment of the sinuses and adjacent structures, supporting accurate treatment planning and improved patient outcomes.

Ans- Most scans take 5–10 minutes.
Ans-Yes. CT scan is a safe imaging test. However, it exposes you to a small dose of radiation. For most people, such a small potential risk far outweighs the benefits, in terms of saving your life. The radiation dose is controlled and kept within safe limits.
