About This Test

The Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT) evaluates how the body responds to a glucose load. Multiple timed blood samples are taken to assess glucose metabolism, insulin response, and to diagnose diabetes or impaired glucose tolerance. This specific protocol includes samples at Fasting (0 min), 1 hour, 2 hours (120 min), 3 hours (180 min) after consuming the 100gm glucose. This test is done to diagnose Diabetes Mellitus, diagnose Impaired Glucose Tolerance (IGT), evaluate reactive hypoglycemia, assess glucose handling in patients with borderline sugars and monitor prediabetes progression.
