Lipid Profile

Also Known As: Lipid
A standard Lipid Profile evaluates the major fats (lipids) in the blood to assess heart and vascular health. It usually includes the following parameters: Total Cholesterol, HDL Cholesterol (Good cholesterol), LDL Cholesterol (Bad cholesterol), Triglycerides, VLDL Cholesterol, TC/HDL Ratio, LDL/HDL Ratio, Non-HDL Cholesterol. The lipid profile is used to: 1. Assess risk of heart disease, heart attack, and stroke 2. Evaluate cholesterol levels 3. Monitor patients with: 4. Diabetes 5. Hypertension 6. Obesity 7. Thyroid disorders 8. Kidney disease 9. Monitor response to lipid-lowering treatment (statins, fibrates) 10. Detect genetic conditions like familial hypercholesterolemia

1. What tests are done in Clinical Biochemistry?
These tests measure things like blood sugar, liver function, kidney function, cholesterol, electrolytes.
2. Do I need to report fasting?before these tests?
No, Fasting is not required.
3. How soon will I get my reports?
Mon-Sat, sample before 4pm, report same day and sunday reports, next day.
4. Are biochemistry tests reliable?
Yes. We use fully automated machines that ensure accurate and consistent results.
5. Can these tests detect early health problems?
Yes. Lipid testing (cholesterol and triglycerides) can detect early health problems, especially cardiovascular risk, metabolic syndrome, and early atherosclerosis.

The Turnaround Time (TAT) depends on the following factors:

  • Registration date and time
  • Type of scan or test
  • Scan time or sample collection time

In uncommon circumstances, TAT may be delayed due to test complexity or reasons beyond our control. You will be informed of the estimated TAT at the time of registration.
