BONE DENSITOMETRY

Dexa Single Site (Paediatric Protocol)

Also Known As: BMD BONE DEXA BONE DENSITOMETRY

About This Test

A DEXA Four Site scan provides an in-depth assessment of bone mineral density (BMD) at four anatomical sites—spine, both hips, and forearm. It gives a more comprehensive view of overall skeletal strength and regional bone health variations. The procedure employs a low-dose X-ray beam, making it completely safe and painless. It takes approximately 25–30 minutes. The patient lies on the scan table, remaining still as each site is measured sequentially. The test is valuable for detecting early osteoporosis, monitoring therapy, and evaluating risk in patients with metabolic bone diseases, endocrine disorders, or previous fractures. Avoid calcium medicine before 24 hours of test for accurate results.
